Mexican Consulate to make stop on Maui this weekend
The Maui News
Staff from the San Francisco office of the Mexican Consulate will visit Maui Economic Opportunity from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday to process passports, voter credentials and other documents by appointment, MEO announced.
Appointments can be made online at citas.sre.gob.mx, by phone at (424) 309-0009 or through social media at #MiConsulado. More information can be found at consulmex.sre.gob.mx/sanfrancisco/.
Those who are meeting with consulate officials should know that:
• If seeking a passport, applicants should show an official ID, birth certificate and expired/soon-to-be-expired passport.
• Passport photos are not necessary; consulate officials will take photos during the appointment.
• Cash or debit/credit cards are preferred for payments.
• If seeking a voter credential, proof of address is required.
• Pre-paid envelopes should have correct names and addresses.
• To replace a lost or stolen passport, make a police report and bring the printed report to the appointment. Police reports may be filed online at mauipolice.com/on-line-reporting.html.
The consulate last visited Maui on March 26 and 27 — the first in-person visit in two years due to the pandemic. About 480 people were served, with the majority of appointments for passport renewals, according to MEO.
For more information about the consulate visit, contact MEO’s Enlace Hispano at (808) 243-4320.
MEO is located at 99 Mahalani St. in Wailuku behind the J. Walter Cameron Center.
