Kahului has been contending with a late-summer heat wave, as it tied or broke heat records a total of seven times in August. Weekend rain showers brought temporary relief to the island, but the heat is set to continue, with mostly sunny conditions and high temperatures near 90 or 91 predicted every day this week, according to the weather service.
