The Royal Order of Kamehameha I Foundation, the new owners of the Na Wai 'Eha cemetery, will hold a formal dedication at 3:30 p.m., on Saturday.
Ownership of the 122-year-old cemetery was formally transferred to the foundation in January 2020 by A&B LLC, according to a news release.
The dedication will include protocols "rarely witnessed today."
Sir Alika Desha KGCK, Ali'i Nui and Grand Master of the Royal Order of Kamehameha I as well as his staff chiefs and those of Moku statewide will attend.
Ali'i James Kimo Apana, chairman of the foundation, named Ali'i Burt Freeland Kahu Pa Ilina and chairman of the cemetery committee with Ali'i J. John Plunkett and Mamo Kanoa Severson as co-vice chairman.
Families with ohana interred at Na Wai 'Eha are encouraged to place flowers or lei on ohana graves the day before dedication and are welcomed to attend the event.
