Rotary Club of Lahaina Sunset members and guests recently celebrated the eighth anniversary of the organization at the Lahaina Yacht Club.
Chartered in September 2014 by co-Presidents Liz May and Jim Fahnestock, the club has organized and conducted several signature projects in West Maui and beyond, including the Go for the Green monthly recycling effort in collaboration with Malama Maui Nui; the installation and maintenance of 35 rescue tubes located on West Maui beach parks; and the planting of more than 100 fruit-bearing trees at public and private sites over a two-year period.
The club has been recognized in seven out of the eight years as Small, Medium and/or Large Club of the Year in all of Rotary District 5000, which is comprised of 52 clubs in Hawaii.
“When the community comes together so much can be accomplished for the cause,” May said. “Rotary is a great way to get involved and make a difference.”
Members of the public are welcome to attend any upcoming meetings held at 5:30 p.m. on the first and third Tuesdays at the Royal Ocean Terrace Restaurant located in The Royal Lahaina Resort.
