The fire that broke out last week in the Kauaula Valley area is now 80 percent contained, and the area burned remains at 2,100 acres, fire officials reported on Monday afternoon.
The was a small flare-up on Monday afternoon mauka of Launiupoko, which was quickly extinguished by the department's Air 1 helicopter.
Crews are continuing to monitor the area.
The fire broke out on the morning of Nov. 8 and quickly spread to 850 acres by the evening. It spurred some evacuations and road closures, but no homes have been reported damaged.
