1 min read

Hawaii is now the only state with gas prices averaging more than $5 a gallon, according to the AAA Hawaii Weekend Gas Watch released Thursday.

Prices in the state were in "a holding pattern" at $5.19 per gallon of regular unleaded gas, the same as the previous Thursday, compared to the average national price of $3.47, which is 12 cents lower than the week before.

Lihue led the state with an average price of $5.53 (one cent lower than last week), followed by Kahului at $5.26 (two cents lower), Honolulu at $5.15 (one cent lower) and Hilo at $5.06 (one cent higher).

"California, Alaska, Washington, Oregon and Nevada all saw pump price reductions of at least 20 cents on average last week, leaving Hawaii as the only state with gas prices above $5 a gallon," AAA Hawaii general manager Liane Sumida said in a news release.
