Animals to be blessed at Keawala'i church
Keawala'i Congregational Church's annual "Blessing of the Animals" will be held at the historic Makena church at 10 a.m. Saturday.
Churches celebrate the event in remembrance of St. Francis of Assisi's love for all creatures, according to a news release. Readings, prayers and a blessing will be offered, as well as pictures with Santa.
Arrangements will take into account the needs of the animals, including dogs, cats, birds, hamsters, rabbits or any other pets. Dogs must be leashed at all times, and other animals must be safely contained.
The service is being coordinated through the ministry of the Board of Deacons, with the kokua of church members.

Good Shepherd holds rummage sale
The Good Shepherd Church Ka 'Ohana Kitchen Team will hold a rummage sale at the church parish hall from 7:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday.
Proceeds from the sale will go toward the upcoming Ka 'Ohana Kitchen, which feeds the hungry every Sunday from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m.
As a tradition, on the last Sunday of each year, the team "4ever family 'n friends" prepares a mini luau meal. This year that last Sunday falls on Christmas.
The church is located at 2140 Main St. in Wailuku.

Church to host craft fair, bake sale
A Christmas Craft Faire and Bake Sale will be held at 11 a.m. after the Sunday morning service under the pavilion of Keawala'i Congregational Church.
Proceeds from the bake sale will support the work of the church's Outreach Committee. Grants are provided year-round for individuals and families in need throughout Maui County.

Church kicks off fundraiser for repairs
The historic Holy Innocents Episcopal Church and campus in Lahaina is inviting the public to a pau hana event from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Dec. 16 to kick off its capital campaign to raise $350,000 for needed repairs.
The free event features the debut of a mini-movie about the church, guided tours of the historic property highlighting areas that need repair or replacement and music by Wilmont Kahaialii with hula by Kalei Jaramillo.
The present church building with services at 8:30 a.m. every Sunday dates back to 1927, but its origins date back to 1862 when King Kamehameha IV and Queen Emma, with the support of England's Queen Victoria, established the Anglican religion in Lahaina. Services began in temporary quarters where Kamehameha III Elementary School sits today.
