The Maui News

A Maui County council committee will review the Hale Mahaolu Ke Kahua Residential Workforce Rental Housing project Tuesday, which proposes 120 affordable rental units in Waiehu.

The Housing and Land Use Committee anticipates receiving a presentation from project developer Waiehu Housing LP at the start of the meeting at 9 a.m. in the Council Chamber and online prior to public testimony, committee chair Tasha Kama said in a news release.

Qualified households earning at or below 60 percent of the area median income will be eligible for housing in the 11.5-acre project, which the council must act on by April 22, or it will be automatically approved under Chapter 2.97 of the Maui County Code.

The property is owned by Maui Economic Opportunity.

The meeting agenda and project application can be viewed at MauiCounty.us/agendas.
