Child dies at West Maui resort pool
A 4-year-old child from New York died at a West Maui resort pool area on Monday afternoon, Maui police said Tuesday.
At around 12:38 p.m. Monday, police responded to the pool area at 2365 Kaanapali Parkway, the address for The Westin Maui Resort & Spa, for an unresponsive 4-year-old.
Upon arrival, police found a bystander performing life-saving measures until first responders arrived and continued the life-saving measures. However, attempts to revive the child proved unsuccessful, police said.
Police identified the victim as Daelyn Ntwaagae of White Plains, N.Y.
Preliminary investigation revealed no signs of foul play. An autopsy has been scheduled.
