Maui County Water Supply Director John Stufflebean and Deputy Director James "Kimo" Landgraf will discuss possible water rate increases and other important issues on the county radio show at 7 a.m. Thursday on KAOI.
If the fiscal year 2024 budget is approved by the Maui County Council, single-family homes could see water bills increase by $6 a month. Also, hotels and resorts -- some of the top users on Maui -- could be charged a new rate of $8.12 per 1,000 gallons of water usage, according to a news release. Even with the proposed increases, Maui County has the lowest water rates in the state, the county said.
The radio show will air at 7 a.m. Thursdays on KAOI FM, AM and online stations to hear local leaders discuss Maui County issues.
Mayor Richard Bissen will be on the air once a month with KAOI, and other local leaders will be featured on the remaining weeks. To listen, tune in to KAOI AM 1110, 96.7 FM, 98.7 FM or KAOIfm.com.
