County water directors to discuss water rate increases
Maui County Water Supply Director John Stufflebean and Deputy Director James “Kimo” Landgraf will discuss possible water rate increases and other important issues on the county radio show at 7 a.m. Thursday on KAOI.
If the fiscal year 2024 budget is approved by the Maui County Council, single-family homes could see water bills increase by $6 a month. Also, hotels and resorts — some of the top users on Maui — could be charged a new rate of $8.12 per 1,000 gallons of water usage, according to a news release. Even with the proposed increases, Maui County has the lowest water rates in the state, the county said.
The radio show will air at 7 a.m. Thursdays on KAOI FM, AM and online stations to hear local leaders discuss Maui County issues.
Mayor Richard Bissen will be on the air once a month with KAOI, and other local leaders will be featured on the remaining weeks. To listen, tune in to KAOI AM 1110, 96.7 FM, 98.7 FM or KAOIfm.com.
