Maui Memorial Day traditions

FIRST PHOTO: Carrying on a Memorial Day tradition Saturday morning at Maui Veterans Cemetery in Makawao, Scouts BSA, Cub Scouts and Webelos placed United States flags in front of every grave in preparation for this morning’s Memorial Day program. Troop 100 Scouts Cyrus Hamayalian and Javie Altaha plant flags in the hard ground while Eagle Scout Scout Wright salutes one of the cemetery’s 4,002 graves. A floral presentation at the cemetery's monuments is scheduled to start at 8:30 a.m. today and be followed by a helicopter flower drop and dove release. The formal program starts at 9 a.m.
