Services to be held for longtime Maui DJ

A celebration of life will be held from 5 to 9 p.m. Wednesday for "LD Reynolds," a longtime Maui disc jockey who built a broadcasting career beginning at KMVI-AM in 1967.
LD Reynolds, whose real name was David M. Clothier, died on April 25 under hospice care, according to his obituary. He was 74 years old.
The celebration of life will be held at Norman's Mortuary at 105 Waiale Road in Wailuku.
Clothier's career spanned more than 50 years, as he worked for KMVI-AM (which was owned back then by The Maui News), KMVI-FM, KLHI-FM, KONI-FM and the KAOI Radio Group, where he hosted his last edition of "Q&A Presents Maui On Line," a few weeks before his passing.
He also operated his own internet radio station, "Hawaiian Hits Live!" from 1996 to 2005.
Friend and fellow disc jockey, Michael McCartney, posted on his Facebook page that "the voice of Maui has left us."
The late Nora I. Cooper, his former boss, gave Clothier the nickname of "Little David" when he took over the evening time slot. (Family and friends said that Clothier was not actually little at more than 6 feet tall, and Cooper was joking when giving him the name).
McCartney said Clothier kept the initials "LD" from the nickname that Cooper had given him. The last name "Reynolds" came from his favorite disc jockey and radio boyhood hero Joey Reynolds.
His other passions included ham radio, science fiction, gaming and music, especially rock 'n' roll and Hawaiian.
