Food webinars to be held in August

The Maui Food Technology Center will hold two food webinars in August to help local entrepreneurs learn about food safety and labeling.

John Nakashima, owner of Food Safety Services Hawai’i LLC, will present a “Food Safety Plan Workshop” from 10 to 11 a.m. Aug. 8. Participants will learn what goes into creating a sound food safety plan and how these efforts protect both business owners and customers, according to a news release. Nakashima has more than 30 years of experience as a food safety education specialist and trainer with the state Department of Health.

Nina Ann Tanabe, principal of Pacific Food Technology LLC, will present a “Food Labeling Workshop” from 10 to 11 a.m. Aug. 9. Participants will learn the latest on food labeling, regulatory requirements and how their efforts can be a game changer. Tanabe has more than 35 years of experience in the areas of product development, regulatory compliance, ingredient and equipment sourcing and specifications, lean manufacturing and plant layout.
