Ki-Aikido course offered on Mondays

A public introductory course in Ki-Aikido for adults and teens will be offered on four consecutive Monday nights this month beginning today, and then June 12, 19 and 26.

The classes will be held at the Shunshinkan Dojo of Maui Ki Aikido on 194 S. Market in Wailuku from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. with registration from 6 to 6:15 p.m.

The course will be taught by 5th-dan Fincher Sterling under the direction of Head Instructor Tracy Reasoner, a news release said.

Ki-Aikido is a Japanese martial art which teaches practical self-defense with a peaceful mindset and calmness training through movement. The basic principles of Ki-Aikido practice will be introduced over the course of the four sessions.

The fee of $40 can be applied to dues if the participant joins the dojo to continue training after the 4-week course.

No uniform nor prior experience is required. Participants should wear comfortable, loose clothing and slippers.
