Binhi at Ani hosts summer program
Binhi at Ani Filipino Community Center's summer program will begin Monday and run through July 27.
A variety of free classes will be offered, including Philippine cultural dance classes from 4 to 5 p.m. on Mondays and "First Love Yourself" classes from 5:15 to 6:30 p.m. on Mondays. There will also be youth art classes from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. on Tuesdays and Zumba classes from 6 to 7 p.m. on Wednesdays.

Author to speak at veterans center
Author Scott Kikkawa will talk about his newest mystery novel, "Char Siu," as part of the Nisei Veterans Memorial Center's "An Afternoon with the Author" series at 1:30 p.m. on July 1.
The event is free and open to the public and will be held both in person and via Zoom and Facebook Live.
Kikkawa's mystery series, which includes "Char Siu," "Kona Winds" and "Red Dirt," is set in 1950s Territorial Hawaii and features Honolulu Police Department's only Japanese American homicide detective, World War II veteran Francis Hideyuki Yoshikawa.
A limited number of copies of "Char Siu" will be available at the center. Seating for the in-person talk and book signing is limited.

The Rotary Club of Kahului will host Protect Waiehu Ahupua'a members Gail Nagasako and David Hoffman at its virtual meeting at noon on Monday.

Dinner, auction to benefit education
The Maui Economic Development Board has announced that its annual MEDB Ke Alahele Education Fund Benefit Dinner & Auction, "Pathways to Our Future," will be held on Aug. 19 at the Wailea Beach Resort-Marriott, Maui.
The event will celebrate the achievements of students in STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) field.
Proceeds raised will help to advance MEDB's STEM education programs from kindergarten to careers, as well as enable MEDB to continue to pursue meaningful pathways that benefit the lives of residents in Maui County and statewide.

Bone marrow drive set for next week
Destination Residences Hawaii will host a bone marrow drive from 9 a.m. to noon on Tuesday and Wednesday at the Andaz Maui and from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Thursday and Friday at the Queen Ka'ahumanu Center.
There is no need to register in advance. The process takes about 10 minutes and involves a simple, painless mouth swab, according to a news release.
Participants will be registered into a raffle for a free two-night stay at the Lahaina Shores Beach Resort.
