Maui singer-songwriter Anthony Pfluke will put on a pop-up performance from 5 to 6 p.m. Friday at Kipuka Square next to Iao Theater.
Pfluke will perform a set of original music inspired by the history, culture and sense of place of Kahoolawe and Wailuku, according to Small Town Big Art, which is presenting the event. Participants should bring a lawn chair.
On June 22, Small Town Big Art will also present an "Evening with Wooden Wave," an artist talk-story event from 5:15 to 6:15 p.m. at the Wailuku Public Library.
Artists Matthew Kawika Ortiz and Roxanne Ortiz are a husband and wife duo who make up Wooden Wave. Both born and raised in Hawaii, they draw upon Hawaiian values and concepts to present them in a contemporary visual context, according to a news release.
Both events are free and open to the public. Visit Small Town Big Art's Facebook and Instagram pages for more information and to RSVP.
