Kula artist Sachelle Dae gives still life painting tips to Kalena McFarland as Alaia Weishaar, 8, looks on Thursday during a Young Artmakers session at the Maui Arts & Cultural Center in the Alexa Higashi Meeting Room. While teaching the Painting, Drawing and Rhythm class, Dae challenged students to incorporate rhythm into the art they create. On Wednesday the students made up a song which they then were asked to translate into water color and pastels. Other classes in the summer education program that wrapped up Friday at the MACC's Schaefer International Gallery included Mixed Media Remix, Explorations in Linocut and Explorations in Monoprint.
