Kula mission to host bon dance
The Kula Shofukuji Shingon Mission is hosting a bon dance from 7 to 9 p.m. on Aug. 26.
There will be food, baked goods and a bazaar before the dance. The booths will open at 4 p.m., followed by a church service at 5 p.m. and sunset service at 6:30 p.m.
The Kula Shofukuji Shingon Mission is located at 113 Puanani Pl. in Kula.

Fund established for local farmers
The Hawai'i Ag & Culinary Alliance has established the Kokua Restaurant & Hospitality Fund to assist Maui farmers and ranchers in the aftermath of the Kula and Lahaina wildfires.
Funds will be given to the Maui County Farm Bureau to distribute to farmers in need so they can recoup a portion of lost sales, rebuild their farms and continue farming.

New lost pet hotline available
Maui Humane Society asks those with missing pets to file a lost pet report online or by calling the nonprofit's new File a Lost Pet hotline.
Hotline callers will speak to Maui Humane Society staff, who can file a report on their behalf.

Bayer donates to fire relief efforts
Bayer will contribute $500,000 to fire relief efforts, which includes a cash donation of $250,000 and a donation of essential healthcare products valued at $250,000.
Of the cash donation, $150,000 will be directed to the Hawaii Community Foundation's Maui Strong program and $50,000 will be contributed to the Maui Food Bank. Bayer will also provide $50,000 in future contributions to local organizations to help support ongoing efforts as needs emerge, according to a news release.
Additionally, Bayer will donate healthcare supplies valued at $250,000 to Direct Relief, an organization that is working with local healthcare partners to deliver immediate medical aid to those in need. The donation includes 4,000 essential items specifically requested by Direct Relief.
Bayer's employees on Maui, Molokai and Oahu have donated more than 3,000 pounds of supplies, including food, water, toiletries, towels, baby items, sleeping bags, household necessities and clothing.
"We are grateful to be a part of the Maui community and are fully committed to providing support during this unprecedented time," said Bayer Hawaii Government Affairs Lead Alan Takemoto. "Our pledge is to help offer not only immediate relief but also to contribute to the sustained recovery and revitalization of Maui."

Airline employees donate goods
The Hawaiian Airlines Community and Cultural Relations team coordinated a company-wide food and supply drive to support the West Maui community.
Seventy employees volunteered to staff collection sites at the airline's corporate headquarters and cargo facility, loaded vans with donations from their colleagues and worked at Hawai'i Foodbank to organize donated items for those impacted by the wildfires.
More than 10,000 pounds of goods were donated to Hawai'i Foodbank and Maui Food Bank for people displaced by the wildfires. Items included baby formula and food, feminine products, diapers, toiletries, canned proteins and meals, rice and grains, non-perishable snacks, peanut butter and meal bars.

Genki Sushi donates $50K to Maui Strong
Genki Sushi Ltd. has donated $50,000 to the Hawaii Community Foundation's Maui Strong Fund.
Genki Sushi will also donate to the fund every month for the rest of the year to support the Maui community, a news release said.
