Outrigger finalizes purchase of hotel

Outrigger Resorts and Hotels finalized its purchase of Kaanapali Beach Hotel on Wednesday, rebranding the 11-acre, 432-room property as the Outrigger Kaanapali Beach Resort.

The price of the acquisition, which was announced in May, is not being disclosed.

“As a Hawai’i-based company for 75 years, we have cultivated a profound appreciation for this enchanting place and its people,” Jeff Wagoner, president and CEO of Outrigger Hospitality Group, said in a news release Wednesday. “We understand the responsibility of being exceptional stewards of this treasured land and embrace the opportunity to continue the tradition of excellence at this extraordinary property.”

The property recently underwent a $75 million renovation spanning two guestroom wings. A new beachfront restaurant, Huihui, was added and became the main eatery, while the 180-room Kauai wing was redesigned.

Under new ownership, Maui Brewing Co. will become the resort’s primary restaurant. Set to open later this summer, it will offer breakfast, lunch and dinner as well as live music.

The resort will continue to provide cultural programming as well as sustainability measures, such as offering complimentary reef-safe sunscreen from partner Raw Elements as well as metal water bottles and reusable bags at check-in.

Starting at $4.62/week.
