Molokai residents can provide feedback on a proposed plan to manage tourism during a community meeting from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Aug. 15 at the Mitchell Pau'ole Community Center in Kaunakakai.
The Hawai'i Tourism Authority, Maui Visitors and Convention Bureau and Molokai task force will host the meeting on the Molokai Destination Management Action Plan, which is part of efforts to map out the future of tourism management on each of the islands.
During the meeting, residents will hear from representatives from each of the agencies about how destination management and stewardship is advancing on Molokai, as well as provide comments and ask questions, according to a news release from HTA on Wednesday. Members of the task force will also lead breakout roundtable discussions.
The meeting will cover community-driven messaging to visitors, transportation, "voluntourism" and small business, and carrying capacity and real estate.
Dinner will be provided.
Presentations will be posted to HTA's website and aired on Akaku for those who are unable to attend.
