The Salvation Army on Maui has created three new job titles that will provide seven openings to help with wildfire relief and recovery efforts.

The newly added positions include:

• Maui recovery project coordinator, who will focus on planning and overseeing community outreach programs, events and recovery efforts, ensuring that residents receive the support they need to rebuild their lives. The position will be in the Emergency Disaster Services Department.

• Volunteer coordinator, who will be responsible for volunteer program operations, including recruitment, management, training, support, supervision and evaluations of volunteers. Oversight includes community engagement, group volunteer activities, developing partnership and establishing and upholding volunteer policies and procedures in accordance with best practices.

• Maui fires case work specialists (five positions), who will provide overall case management for The Salvation Army Maui Fire Early Recovery Program and Long-Term Recovery Program, which will include, but is not limited to, client interviews, case management notes, situation assessments, long-term planning, distributing financial assistance, liaison to other community relief agencies, coordination of casework with other community agencies and attendance at meetings pertinent to the long-term recovery case management process in Maui County.

In addition to these openings, The Salvation Army is currently seeking to fill the role of director of emergency services and safety, which will be based on Oahu.

Despite the recent loss of its facility in West Maui due to the Lahaina wildfire on Aug. 8, The Salvation Army continues to operate essential food distribution and feeding programs on Maui, and is currently providing direct financial assistance to survivors, the organization said in a news release Tuesday.

To provide more information on the new job openings, The Salvation Army will hold a job fair at Whalers Village in Kaanapali from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. today.
