Maui Economic Opportunity continues to accept applications online and in-person for the Maui Relief Temporary Assistance for Needy Families Program, which provides financial assistance to families with dependent children directly and indirectly impacted by the Aug. 8 wildfires.
MEO has received more than 1,000 applications for the program, which launched on Oct. 20, according to a news release from the nonprofit on Friday.
Rental and mortgage, utilities, auto down payment on a new vehicle and loan payment assistance are available, as well as gift cards for clothing and school supplies.
Families with dependent children in their household, directly and indirectly impacted by the wildfires and earning less than 350 percent of the poverty level (which for a family of four is $120,750 annually) are eligible for the benefits, the news release said.
U.S. citizenship is not a requirement.

The link also includes a list of required documents, which applicants will need to upload with their applications.
Applications also are accepted in person from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays only at MEO's Wailuku office at 99 Mahalani St. Applicants should bring required documents with them.
MEO staff also will be at the Lahaina Civic Center from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Nov. 21.
