Tai chi chuan course offered
A 10-week beginner tai chi chuan course will be offered from 5 to 6 p.m. on Wednesdays beginning Nov. 22 at the Kula Dojo.
The course will be taught by certified instructors Jan Osterneck and John Rivera. Tai chi chuan is known to improve concentration, strengthen the mind/body connection and enhance health and well-being.

Transgender Day of Remembrance to be held
A Transgender Day of Remembrance event will be held at 5 p.m. on Monday at Kamaole Beach Park I in Kihei.
The event is open to the public and will end at sunset with a flower ceremony. Attendees can bring loose flowers for the ceremony.
The event is sponsored by Mental Health America of Hawaii and supported by the Maui Equality Coalition.

Free leadership program offered
The Hawaii Children's Action Network is now accepting online applications for the free Hawaii Parent Leadership Training Institute in January.
The 20-week program begins in January and runs through June. It is designed to help participants become community leaders by developing their leadership, communication and advocacy skills, according to a news release.
"Parents, caregivers and residents statewide know the challenges facing their neighborhoods, schools and communities," said Hawaii Children's Action Network Executive Director Deborah Zysman. "Each year, we're so inspired by the participants that come out of PLTI and generate impactful solutions for their communities."

Banyan tree art class set for Nov. 25
Island Art Party will host a special class featuring a painting of Lahaina's banyan tree at 7 p.m. on Nov. 25 at Island Art Party in Kihei.
In partnership with local nonprofit What Makes You Feel Beautiful, Island Art Party will sponsor 10 families who have been affected by the wildfires to attend the class for free.

Morgan, Allen to perform Nov. 24
Country music singer-songwriters Kylie Morgan and Jay Allen will perform a free Thanksgiving concert at 6 p.m. at The Ritz-Carlton Maui Kapalua's Alaloa Lounge.
"It is our pleasure to perform at The Ritz-Carlton and experience the beauty of Maui, while hopefully making a difference for those affected by the recent wildfires," Morgan said. "We have performed at multiple concerts for natural disaster relief, and Jay has helped raise $100 million for Alzheimer's. I lost my childhood home in a tornado and our wedding in Fort Worth was postponed last year due to a hurricane. We know how music can bring people together, lift spirits and provide emotional healing."
Donations will be accepted at the concert to support those impacted by the wildfires. Valet parking is complimentary.

'Meals 4 Maui' accepting donations
Central Pacific Bank is accepting donations for Meals 4 Maui, an initiative that provides locally sourced meals to Maui residents impacted by the wildfires.
The Meals 4 Maui initiative is a partnership with Chef Hui, a coalition of local chefs and food service providers.
Donations to Meals 4 Maui will go directly to Chef Hui, which will purchase ingredients and supplies needed to make holiday meals. The meals will be prepared by locally owned and operated restaurants and chefs. Central Pacific Bank will match every dollar collected up to a total donation of $25,000.
Donations will be accepted until Dec. 15. Donations can be made at any Central Pacific Bank branch or online at cpb.bank/meals-4-maui.
