Multiple residential zones in Lahaina town to reopen

Multiple zones that include the former Aina Nalu condos and Ka Hale A Ke Ola in Lahaina will reopen to residents and property owners from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Maui County announced.
Zones 11B, 11D, 11E, 11F and 13D include Hale Street, Luakini Street, Prison Street, Wainee Street, Lahainaluna Road, Mill Street, Ipukai Lane, Ipuwai Lane, Shaw Street and Honoapiilani Highway.
Reentry vehicle passes will be required and will be distributed from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. today and Thursday at the Lahaina Civic Center and the Kako'o Maui office at Maui Mall. Two vehicle passes will be available per property owner, and two vehicle passes will be available per rental dwelling. Optional personal protective equipment kits will be available during the vehicle pass distribution.
After the first two days of assisted reentry, passage through the checkpoint will be available from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily for area residents with a vehicle pass or ID.
Access to Zones 11B, 11D, 11E and 11F will be from Hokiokio Place, with drivers turning right onto Honoapiilani Highway and left onto Prison Street. Access to Zone 13D will also be from Hokiokio Place, with drivers turning right onto Honoapiilani Highway and right onto Shaw Street. All vehicles will exit at Hokiokio Place.
Entry on Friday and Saturday will depend on the weather as a kona low approaches the islands. Residents should sign up to receive notifications for any updates on changes to zone openings at www.mauicounty.gov/mema.
The following documents may be used to prove ownership or residency to receive a pass:
• Property deed/title or property tax records clearly showing the resident's name as the property owner. To access county tax records, visit www.mauipropertytax.com.
• Bills for utilities such as electricity, water or gas, addressed to the resident's name and property address. These bills should be recent and show consistent usage.
• Rental/lease agreement or receipt with the renter's name, landlord's name and property address.
• Hawaii driver's license with the resident's current address.
• Vehicle registration that can show the property address.
• Voter registration card listing the resident's address in Lahaina.
• Financial statements sent to the resident's Lahaina address.
• Insurance documents, such as homeowner's or renter's insurance policies with the resident's Lahaina address.
• Letter or other mail delivered to the address from an employer, public official, social service organization, local school or school district.
• Notarized affidavit from a property owner or landlord confirming residency or ownership.
Support services will be provided on-site, including water, shade, washing stations, portable toilets, medical and mental health care, Maui Bus transportation and language assistance. Transportation to and from hotels on Maui Bus circulator shuttles will have extended hours during the supported reentry days from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m.
