Kahului Disaster Recovery Center to close its doors Friday, Lahaina location to remain open

The Kahului Disaster Recovery Center will close its doors at 6 p.m. Friday, but disaster-related assistance for survivors of the August wildfires will remain available at other locations on Maui, a news release said.

The Kahului center at the University of Hawaii Maui College Community Services Center Building 205 will continue to offer services through Friday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The Lahaina Disaster Recovery Center remains open and survivors can continue to get information, application updates or referrals to programs offered by FEMA, the U.S. Small Business Administration and other federal, state and local agencies and organizations. Residents can also learn about the next steps in their recovery, access FEMA assistance or apply for an SBA disaster loan.

The Lahaina location is at the Lahaina Civic Center Gymnasium at 1840 Honoapiilani Highway.

Its hours are from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday to Saturday and is closed on Sunday.

Its hours for Wednesday along with Dec. 20 and 27 is from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Help is also available by phone, this includes updating FEMA if you change your address or phone number, even if only temporarily. Missing or wrong information could delay your recovery, FEMA said. A FEMA specialist can be reached at the FEMA Helpline at (800) 621-3362, which is open from 1 a.m. to 8 p.m., seven days a week.
