Fire chief offers public 84-page detailed report assessing action

County of Maui Fire Chief Brad Ventura presented the Department of Fire and Public Safety’s 84-page After-Action Report on the August 2023 Maui wildfires during a press conference Tuesday at the Kula Fire Station.

Chief Ventura, along with Assistant Chief Jeff Giesea, outlined the scope of the report at the roughly 40-minute press conference, which covered the four wildfires that broke out on Aug. 8, 2023, and discussed recommendations for future disaster response in the county.
