After years of deep water aerobics being held at the Kihei Aquatic Center, Maui County ceased this very important routine for kupuna about 4 months ago. While many emails were sent to Parks & Rec, to the mayor, and to the Kihei county council member, no one has received a reply explaining why these classes have been cancelled. The group decided to protest outside of a budget hearing Thursday night held at the Kihei Community Center to draw attention to this issue. Editor’s Note: The Maui News reached out to the County of Maui, and they said that the Deep Water aerobics class at the Kihei Aquatic Center has not been eliminated and that they are seeking volunteer instructors to continue the program.
