MPD welcomes their 95th recruit class with a graduation ceremony

KAHULUI–On Thursday the Maui Police Department’s (MPD) 95th Recruit Class held its graduation ceremony at the King Kamehameha Golf Club, according to a press release from the MPD.

The new officers are Jeremiah Aceret, Levy Alizna, Kaelan Bush, Hau’oli Caparida, Lyman Diego, Quinton Pedroza, Aloices Sabugo, Austin Travis, and Lateral Officer Graduate Anthony Campos.

The newly graduated officers will undergo four months of on-the-job field training with veteran police officers before being qualified to work alone.

During the ceremony, Recruit Levy Alizna was honored with the Outstanding Recruit Award. He also earned the Sensei Shinichi Suzuki Award for Arrest and Defense Tactics and the M. Cecil Rusty Dickson Physical Fitness Award.

Neil T. Endo Outstanding Firearms Award: Recruit Hau’oli Caparida

Outstanding Notebook Award: Recruit Quinton Pedroza

Scholastic Achievement Award: Recruit Austin Travis
