Blood Bank of Hawaii stands ready to assist victims of Hurricane Beryl through Blood Emergency Readiness Corps

KAHULUI - Blood Bank of Hawaii is preparing to assist victims of Hurricane Beryl, if needed. BBH is a proud member of The Blood Emergency Readiness Corps (BERC), a coalition of blood centers nationwide committed to being prepared for mass transfusion emergencies here in the islands and across the U.S. These blood centers collectively pledge to collect additional units of blood on a rotating "on-call" schedule, ensuring an immediate and available supply for emergency needs when disasters hit.
On July 8, Hurricane Beryl, a category 1 storm, made landfall in Texas, leaving over 2.7 million people without power. Tragically, the storm has claimed at least eight lives and injured many others. BBH’s upcoming blood drive on Maui from July 16 to 18 at Cameron Center Maui aims to support our Hawaii communities and those affected in Texas, if needed.
The blood drive will operate during the following hours:
● Tuesday, July 16 from 9 a.m. – 7 p.m.
● Wednesday, July 17 from 8 a.m. – 6 p.m.
● Thursday, July 18 from 6 a.m. – 3 p.m.
Community support is crucial to ensuring an adequate blood supply for both Hawaii and Texas.
