Credit Unions of Maui raise $38,000 at annual golf tournament to benefit hospice Maui

WAILUKU–The Credit Unions of Maui hosted their 9th Annual Charity Golf Tournamenton Aug. 10, 2024, at The Dunes at Maui Lani.

This year’s annual event brought together 144 golfers and community supporters, resulting in a remarkable $38,000 raised to benefit Hospice Maui, a local nonprofit organization dedicated to providing compassionate end-of-life care for Maui residents.

The tournament exceeded expectations, with participants enjoying a day of friendly competition, prizes, and philanthropy. The funds raised will directly support Hospice Maui’s mission to offer comprehensive hospice and palliative care, including medical services, emotional support, and grief counseling, to individuals and families in need.

“We are incredibly grateful to everyone who participated in and supported our Annual Charity Golf Tournament,” said this year’s tournament co-chair Kyle Williamson, Vice-President of Lending for Valley Isle Community FCU.

Tournament co-chair Kelly Tobita is the CEO and President of Maui Teachers Federal Credit Union.

“The generosity and community spirit shown by participating golfers, sponsors, and volunteers have made a significant impact on Hospice Maui’s ability to continue providing essential services to our island’s residents during their most difficult times,” Tobita said.

Hospice Maui’s CEO Melanie Dwyer expressed heartfelt gratitude for the support.

“The funds raised by the Credit Unions of Maui will help ensure that we can continue to offer high-quality, compassionate care to those facing life-limiting illnesses. We are deeply thankful for this generous contribution and the ongoing support of our community ,” Dwyer said.

The Credit Unions of Maui, which include Kahului FCU, Maui FCU, Maui County FCU, Maui Teachers FCU, Valley Isle Community FCU and Wailuku FCU, are committed to giving back to the community and supporting local organizations that make a positive difference in the lives of Maui residents. The success of this year’s golf tournament is a testament to the power of community collaboration and the shared commitment to helping those in need. To-date, this event has raised nearly $300,000 to improve the health and well-being of individuals throughout Hawaii.
