On the anniversary of the Lahaina fire, Ka’anapali Beach Resort opened their arms to Sacred Hearts School. The entire Kaanapali community united in support to welcome the students and faculty.
Sacred Hearts begins a new chapter in the Ka’anapali Beach Resort community this fall.
“Seeing the smiles on the faces of the students as they enjoyed the meals we prepared with aloha was incredibly rewarding,” says Josh Hargrove, general manager of The Westin Maui Resort & Spa. “We hope it left them with a sense of comfort and the strong support Sacred Hearts will have in Ka’anapali.”
A morning mass honoring those impacted by the wildfires was followed by a special lunch for over 250 students and staff. Four area resorts provided everything: Hyatt Regency, Maui Resort and Spa, Sheraton Maui Resort & Spa, Marriott’s Maui Ocean Club, and The Westin Maui Resort & Spa.
“Ka’ anapali Beach Resort has always been a place about community and hospitality,” says Bill Countryman, general manager of the Marriott’s Maui Ocean Club. “This gesture of support was about helping the students and staff heal, and ensure they feel embraced as they embark on change.”
The support from the donors and community stakeholders has shown a commitment to enabling Sacred Hearts School to maintain a high standard of education.
“We are truly grateful for the outgoing support we have received,” says Tonata Lolesio, principal of Sacred Hearts School. “We look forward to thriving in our new temporary home.
