WAILUKU--On Friday, Hangry Joe's Maui Hot Chicken & Wing announced they have opened their first restaurant in Hawaii inside the food court at the Maui Marketplace at 270 Dairy Road, according to a press release.
Hangry Joe's is a Nashville-style chicken franchise that has restaurants from the East to the West Coast as well as Dubai, Japan and Korea.
"Hangry Joe's have taken the classic Nashville hot chicken and turned it up a notch, serving up the ultimate chicken sandwich while infusing the techniques of Korean fried chicken," Hangry Joe's said of their chicken. "Experience the sizzle and excitement erupting with each bite of the spicy chicken. For the bold, each bite takes you on a journey from mild serenity to fiery furry."
Hangry Joe's menu offers a variety of chicken sandwiches, wraps, wings, chicken nuggets and more, from "no spice" to "hangry hot" spicy levels.
Customers are encouraged to take the very flavorful Angry Hot Challenge, but beware, the main ingredient at that level--ghost peppers--can be a little too spicy for the faint of heart.
Who's ready to try Hangry Joe's Maui Hot Chicken & Wings? Just keep in mind, with great hot chicken comes great responsibility (and maybe a big side of soft ice cream or bubble tea).
The owners of Hangry Joe's Maui Hot Chicken & Wings added they will also offer Softer (www.softericecream.com) in a unique presentation of soft-serve ice cream using taiyaki (fish) shaped waffles and flavorful ice cream, making a delightful and refreshing treat for all ages.
"The appeal of soft ice cream on a taiyaki waffle lies in the combination of warm, crispy pastry and cold, soft, creamy ice cream," the press releases announcing the opening said. "The contrast between the two temperatures and textures creates delightful sensation in the mouth, making it one of the most favored deserts. Not to mention the fish-shaped waffle cone design adding to its charm and makes it a visually appealing dessert."
The Softer's menu will include:
¯ Soft-serve ice cream served on cups, taiyaki waffle cones or on upside-down taiyaki waffle cones.
¯ Taiyaki (fish shaped waffles) filled with choice of filling.
¯ Snow Bowl, a milk based Korean shaved ice with choice of flavors.
¯ Soft serve shakes, bubble teas and other drinks.
