Slack Key Show to celebrate 21 years of Hawaiian music Oct. 30

The 21st anniversary of the Slack Key Show will feature George Kahumoku from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Oct. 30 at Napili Kai Beach Resort.

The festivities at 5900 L. Honoapi’ilani Road in Lahaina will kick off with a no-host bar, and event organizers will offer all attendees a free first drink while commemorating more than two decades of music and community. Guests will also receive free CDs and an exclusive anniversary sticker.

Kahumoku will open the show with his traditional slack key guitar style and vocals. Also, Shem Kahawaii will perform with the accompaniment of hula dancer Wainani, showcasing the rich cultural heritage of Hawai’i, and Daniel Ho, a Grammy-winning ‘ukulele and guitarist, songwriter and vocalist, will feature his popular contemporary compositions.

“We are incredibly grateful for the support we’ve received over the years,” said George Kahumoku Jr. “This anniversary is not just a celebration of music; it’s a tribute to the community that has embraced us and allowed us to share our passion for slack key guitar.”
