Maui County recently received awards for distinguished budget presentation and excellence in financial reporting from the Government Finance Officers Association.

According to county officials, Maui County received the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award after satisfying nationally recognized guidelines for effective budget presentation.

According to the association, the award represents a significant achievement and reflects Maui County’s commitment to meeting the highest principles of governmental budgeting.

Maui County has received the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for the past 32 years.

Additionally, a Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting was awarded for the county’s annual financial report for the fiscal year that ended June 30, 2023. The certificate is the highest form of recognition in governmental accounting and financial reporting, according to GFOA.

Maui County has received the Certificate of Achievement, which is valid for one year, for 41 consecutive years.

Employees of the award-winning team are from the Maui County Office of the Mayor – Budget Division, Accounts Division of the county’s Department of Finance, and the Fiscal Division of the Department of Water Supply.
