Hawaiian Electric Co. will present its wildfire safety strategies during the Maui County Office of Recovery's monthly Lahaina Community Webinar on April 16.
The webinar will begin at 5:30 p.m. It will feature Colton Ching, senior vice president of planning and technology for Hawaiian Electric, who will discuss how the utility is deploying new technologies, hardening infrastructure and reducing fire risks as part of its Wildfire Safety Strategy.
Other topics include updates from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers on debris removal, environmental monitoring at the Temporary Debris Storage site from the Department of Environmental Management, and an overview of the Community Development Block Grant Disaster Recovery Action Plan.
A live Q&A session will follow, with panelists from multiple agencies, including Maui County's Office of Recovery, Department of Public Works, Department of Water Supply and Department of Planning, as well as the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and Hawaiian Electric.
