Mayor’s Sustainability Speaker Series to feature Maui voyager for Earth Day talk
In honor of Earth Day, the Mayor’s Sustainability Speaker Series will feature Maui educator and voyager Mary Anna (Enriquez) Grimes for a special presentation at noon April 17 in the Mayor’s Conference Room on the ninth floor of the County Building at 200 S. High St.
The presentation will explore how Grimes’ experiences in sailing, education and cultural stewardship have shaped her work in climate resilience and environmental conservation. Grimes is an educator with the ʻāina-based organization Papahana Kuaola and serves on the board of Moʻokiha O Piʻilani, a traditional Polynesian voyaging canoe. She was also one of 20 educators selected statewide to help develop curriculum for the worldwide voyage of Hōkūleʻa and Hikianalia.
