Maui Gold Pineapple will host a special evening with Netflix personality and Maui resident Harry Donenfeld during the Haliʻimaile Third Friday Night Market on April 18.
Donenfeld, a cast member of the Netflix reality series "Million Dollar Secret," will meet fans from 5-7 p.m. at the Maui Pineapple Store in Haliʻimaile. The store will stay open late for the event, which includes complimentary tastings of fresh-cut Maui Gold Pineapple.
At 7 p.m., guests are invited to grab dinner from local food trucks or the Haliʻimaile General Store and gather on the store's outdoor deck for a screening of the show's season finale. While Donenfeld didn't win the competition, he became a fan favorite and gave Maui Gold a national shoutout in the premiere episode, calling it "the best pineapple in the world."
"Filming 'Million Dollar Secret' was one of the most surreal experiences of my life," Donenfeld said in a news release. "Representing Maui and sharing a little piece of home with the world -- even just in a shoutout -- meant everything to me."
Maui Gold Pineapple CEO John White said Donenfeld's support has helped spotlight the local brand.
"When someone like Harry helps shine a light on what we do, it's an unexpected and appreciated moment of visibility," White said. "We're proud to represent Hawai'i agriculture on a global stage -- both in person and on screen."
The meet-and-greet is part of the Haliʻimaile Third Friday Night Market, a monthly community event featuring food trucks, artisan vendors, a farmers market, and live glassblowing at Makai Glass. The market runs from 5 to 8 p.m. and is presented by Fresh Help Maui with support from the County of Maui Office of Economic Development.
