Grand champion helps Ohana Martial Arts rack up awards at Hawaiian Karate Championships

Athletes representing Ohana Martial Arts won 14 first-place awards at the Hawaiian Karate Championships on May 3 at Pearl City High School in Honolulu.
The team also picked up eight second-place finishes, seven third places and one four place while facing competitors from schools all over the state for the 2025 championship titles in age, rank, kumite (sparring) and kata (forms).
According to the team, about 250-300 competitors competed in the tournament hoping for a chance to make the finals.
Ohana Martial Arts coaches Paul and Anita Main had a team of 24 competitors lead by Kamehameha Schools senior Kelema Cabatingan, who was overall blackbelt grand champion after winning the blackbelt kumite men’s division for 18 to 34 years old.
