Maui Food Bank receives over 26,000 pounds of food

The National Association of Letter Carriers' 33rd annual Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive collected over 26,000 pounds of food for the Maui Food Bank on May 10.
Through Stamp Out Hunger, the nation's largest single-day food drive, local letter carriers collected food donations left next to mailboxes during their regular postal routes.
The Maui Food Bank announced the collection total Thursday. Donations were taken in Haiku, Hana, Kahului, Kihei, Kula, Lahaina, Paia and Wailuku. They will help provide meals to Maui families facing food insecurity.
"We are deeply grateful to the NALC, the letter carriers and our community for their generosity and commitment to helping those who are food insecure," said Lisa Paulson, CEO, Maui Food Bank. "We especially want to thank the letter carriers for their time and effort in collecting the food and the more than 55 volunteers who helped sort the donations. Every donation makes a difference, and these contributions will help provide food for those in need throughout Maui County."
According to the Maui Food Bank, the organization works with more than 100 distribution partners and programs to offer safe and nutritious food to anyone who is at risk of going hungry. For more, visit MauiFoodBank.org.
