Bayer Hawaii, in partnership with Sharing the Butterfly Experience, will be giving away 30 Monarch Butterfly Kits at the 2025 Maui AgFest & 4-H Livestock Fair on May 31 at the War Memorial Complex in Wailuku.
The annual giveaway is part of an ongoing educational effort to highlight the vital role pollinators play in sustaining our ecosystems and ensuring a stable food supply.
AgFest attendees can stop by Bayer's booth between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. to enter for a chance to win a Monarch Butterfly Kit. Thirty winners will be randomly drawn and must be present at the time of the drawing to claim their kit. No purchase is necessary to participate.
Each kit includes a protective habitat, two live caterpillars, and caterpillar food. Carefully prepared by Sharing the Butterfly Experience, the kits provide an educational opportunity for families to observe the transformation of monarch butterflies--from caterpillar to chrysalis to adult -- over a 20-day period.
This is the eighth consecutive year that Bayer Hawaii has partnered with Sharing the Butterfly Experience to highlight the importance of monarch butterflies in agriculture and the environment.
"This initiative is about more than butterflies--it's about inspiring curiosity, environmental responsibility, and a deeper appreciation for our island's ecosystems," said Kai Pelayo, community affairs manager for Bayer Hawaii. "We're proud to continue our collaboration with Sharing the Butterfly Experience and to be part of this year's Maui AgFest."
