Top Shot, an indoor Nerf dart blaster arena with a soft toddler play area, opened on May 10 in Kahului.

At 400 Hana Highway, Suite H, Top Shot is open seven days a week and features a fun new place to host parties. The business is owned by Brian and Dina Edmisson, who are longtime Lahaina residents with two young sons.

“We are so thrilled to offer this fun option to the Maui community,” Dina said in a statement. “We realized we wanted to do something that allows us to serve and interact with our community more. We wanted to provide someplace fun for families to go and enjoy time together. The people of Maui deserve it. This space we’ve created is our love letter to the most wonderful community on earth and the amazing people who make it.”

At Top Shot’s soft opening on May 10, young children played in the tree house and slid down the indoor turf grass hill while older kids equipped with goggles and giant Nerf blasters charged around a barrier to surprise their friends in a surprise attack.

For Pukalani residents Taylor Awai and Kiyozo Vaituulala, Top Shot was perfect for their 4-year-old and 2-year-old boys and their cousins.

“They can run off and enjoy the Nerf battle, and we know it’s safe and fun and tires them out,” Awai said. “And our 9-month-old daughter gets to hang out too, in an in-door setting. We can just relax and enjoy watching our kids and all the keiki.”

Dina and Brian say they can’t wait to see people’s reactions to what they’ve created. The couple lost their home in the 2023 wildfire, and opening a brand new business does not come without considerable risk and effort.

According to the Edmissons, Brian’s fishing guide service, Maui Shore Fishing Guides, helped give him confidence for this venture.

“It was a business I started by myself, with one other person doing it,” he said. “I was wondering in the beginning if it would be successful, but it was for me. With Top Shot, we hope the experience brings our community joy, and that they like it as much as we do.”

Top Shot offers two levels of play — the Elite Level with traditional manual blasters that shoot Elite foam darts or Rival foam balls; and the Power Level with automatic/battery-powered blasters that shoot either darts or balls.

Kama’āina prices start at $25 (regular $35) for one hour of Elite play, with an all-day pass for $45. Power level is $35 for one hour kama’āina; $55 for all day.

Children ages 1 to 5 can play all day in the toddler play area for $25. A tree house and grass hill, sensory and pretend play, and soft structures for climbing and sliding will keep the keiki safely occupied for hours. A snack bar offers bottled drinks, packaged snacks and ice cream.

For birthday parties and group events, packages start at $450 for two hours of foam dart arena play for 10 players, plus use of party tables, goggles, blasters, ammo and grip socks.
