Maui United Way has its first cohort through the Kahua Grants Initiative, a new program designed to support emerging and grassroots nonprofits across Maui County.
According to the organization, the initiative equips organizations with the tools, knowledge and resources needed to build strong foundations for long-term sustainability and deeper community impact.
From now through April 30, the selected organizations will receive funding, technical assistance and peer learning opportunities through a collaboration with experienced grant consultants.
The inaugural cohort includes Boys & Girls Club Maui Chapter, Catholic Charities Maui Chapter, Grow Some Good, Habitat for Humanity Maui Chapter, Hāna Business Council, Hoʻōla iā Mauiakama, Kākoʻo Maui, Laʻakea Village, Maui Historical Society, Our Kūpuna, Pacific Birth Collective, Pacific Cancer Foundation, Piha Wellness & Healing, Roots Reborn and What Makes You Feel Beautiful.
"This program is about planting seeds that will support long-term resilience in our nonprofit sector," said Jeeyun Lee, director of impact of Maui United Way. "By investing in the growth and development of grassroots nonprofit organizations, we're helping to ensure that community-driven solutions can thrive well into the future."
