Akakū Maui to host film salon Aug. 21
Akakū Maui Community Mediaʻs salon on Aug. 21 will feature Hisako Film Labs spring student showcase.
According to organizers, five student films will be screened with a follow up discussion with film team representatives.
The event is free. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. and the screening will begin at 6 p.m.
Hisako Film Lab Co-Director Brad Kester will share information about the free youth program. The discussion and question-and-answer session will be moderated by Akakū education and production director Kat Tracy.
The Spring Lab was in collaboration with Maui Huliau Foundation with Spring Lab films having environmental themes or subjects. Other partners included the University of Hawai’i Maui Creative Academy and Fuzz Box Productions.
The event is part of Akakūʻs ongoing speaker series, Akakū Upstairs, offered on the third Thursday of the month at 333 Dairy Road, Suite 204, in Kahului.
