Maui Firefighters extinguished two structure fires on Monday.

Both fires were in Kahului and classified as accidental, according to Maui Fire.

Three fire trucks, a hazmat unit and a battalion chief investigator responded to a fire at 10:47 a.m. Monday on the 300 block of Holua Street. Responders arrived to find a single-family home engulfed in flames.

Firefighters extended hose lines to extinguish the fire and protect neighboring structures while confirming that those inside had escaped the structure, according to Maui Fire spokesman Christopher Stankis.

The fire was extinguished by 11:45 a.m. One resident who was displaced was assisted by the American Red Cross.

Stankis also said a good Samaritan was transported to Maui Memorial Medical Center for injuries suffered while helping a resident get out of the structure.

At 4:41 p.m. Monday, Maui Fire responded to a blaze at the 100 block of S. Lehua Street.

Firefighters arrived to find a fire that had begun on the exterior of the structure and was extending into the residence.

Firefighters extinguished the fire on the exterior and checked to ensure the fire had not extended into the attic or wall spaces.

Stankis said the fire was extinguished at 5:19 p.m., and there were no injuries. The cause of the fire was possibly related to an electric bike.
