Maui Fire to hold live training in August
The Maui Fire Department will be conducting wildland live fire training Aug. 21- 22 and Aug. 28-29 as part of the department’s 41st recruit class.
The training will take place at Waikapu, across from the Maui Tropical Plantation. Smoke associated with this training will be visible between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. each day.
According to the department, Maui Fire will have three relief engines, two tankers, two safety officers, seven to nine wildland training cadre personnel and 10 fire department recruits on site to ensure safety during this phase of recruit training.
The training on Aug. 21 will also include Hawaii airport firefighters and fire apparatus.
