This fall the Maui County Fair will return for the first time since 2019, and former Mayor Michael Victorino has been named the grand marshal of the parade to kick everything off.
In announcing the selection of the grand marshall, current Maui County Mayor Richard Bissen cited Victorino’s decades of dedication to the fair and how he helped shape the tradition into one of Maui’s most cherished gatherings.
“Mayor Victorino’s legacy is deeply tied to the Maui County Fair, where for decades he championed this ʻohana tradition for the people of Maui County,” Mayor Bissen said.
After a six-year hiatus, the 98th Maui County Fair will be Oct. 2-5 at the War Memorial Special Events Complex.
The parade will be at 4:30 p.m. Oct. 2 in Kahului. The route will begin at University of Hawaiʻi Maui College campus before turning right onto Kaʻahumanu Avenue and proceeding to Kanaloa Avenue.
Applications for parade mobile units, marching units and walkers are being accepted through Sept. 12 at https://tinyurl.com/mauicountyparade. Parade participation is first-come, first-served as space is limited.
