Healthy Baby Contest returns to Maui County Fair

The popular Healthy Baby Contest will return to a list of events at the Maui County Fair this year.

The contest that dates back to the 1950s will be at 11 a.m. Oct. 4 at the War Memorial Special Events Complex entertainment stage.

The contest is designed to promote information about healthy living and nutrition. The Healthy Baby Contest is open to infants and toddlers ages 0 to 36 months who are accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Proof of age, such as a birth certificate copy, may be required.

Babies will be awarded in several categories that highlight their overall health and joy, according to fair organizers.

Families interested in participating can sign up in advance at tinyurl.com/ymmcexkh or at the fair, space permitting.

Contest categories include health and development, personality and interaction, appearance and presentation and family involvement. Unique recognitions may be awarded, including best smile, chubbiest cheeks, most active and best traditional outfit.

The 98th Maui County Fair will be Oct. 2-5 at the War Memorial Special Events Complex in Wailuku. For more, www.themauifair.com/.
