Three workshops coming this month to help craft Central Maui plan
The Maui County Department of Planning will host a series of community design workshops this month that will help shape the Central Maui Community Plan update.
During the workshops, community members will engage in mapping activities to identify areas they would like to preserve, places that need improvement and ideas for future growth and development.
“This is an important opportunity for Central Maui residents to make their voices heard and to help shape their future,” Planning Director Kate Blystone said. “We welcome anyone who lives, works or plays in Central Maui to attend.”
The workshop will be:
• Sept. 18 — 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Waiheʻe Elementary School, 2125 Kahekili Highway, focusing on Waihee, Waiehu and Kahakuloa.
• Sept. 23 — 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Velma McWayne Santos Community Center, 395 Waena St. in Wailuku, focusing on Wailuku and Waikapu.
• Sept. 24 — 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Kahului Community Center, 275 Uhu St., in Kahului with the focus area on Kahului.
Feedback gathered from the workshops will inform land use plans, policies and actions in the upcoming draft Central Maui Community Plan Update. For more, centralmaui.wearemaui.org.
