The Kamehameha Maui girls volleyball team has secured a berth in the Hawaii High School Athletic Association’s state tournament after finishing the regular season with the best record in Division I in the Maui Interscholastic League.
The Warriors capped off their regular season with a victory over Maui High on Thursday, winning 25-21, 25-20, 25-10.
The Warriors have dominated the league throughout the season to amass an 11-1 record, and Thursday’s win was KS-Maui’s 10th win in straight sets this year.
While KS-Maui has earned one of the league’s two slots in the state tournament Oct. 27-Nov. 1, the MIL Division I girls volleyball tournament will begin Saturday, Oct. 11, with a play-in game between No. 4-seeded Maui High (4-8) and No. 5 Lahainaluna (0-12).
The play-in game is set to begin at 6 p.m. at Maui High, which will host the MIL Division I tournament games. The tournament will continue with the semifinals Monday and championship game on Tuesday or Wednesday, depending on if a playoff game is needed.
With a 9-3 record, King Kekaulike has earned the No. 2 seed in the tourney, and Baldwin finished the regular season with the third-best record at 6-6.
In Thursday’s match against Maui High, U’ilani Ahana and Archer Fabrao powered the Warriors’ attack with 16 and 15 kills, respectively, and Hi’ilei Alo recorded 20 assists for KS-Maui.
