Upcountry residents are invited to attend a Kula Community Association meeting from 6-8 p.m. Nov. 12 at the Kula Community Center. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m.

The meeting will focus on Upcounty fire mitigation and preparedness efforts, as well as the stewardship of Haleakala and the lasting effects of the Aug. 8, 2023, fire in Kula.

The evening will feature Hawaii Fire Marshal Dori Booth offering insights on fire suppression strategies and statewide preparedness. Other speakers include Olena Alec of the Haleakala Conservancy, Marsha Lowery of the Maui Wildfire Exposure Study and Jordan Jokiel of Haleakala Ranch.
